Waldorf Astoria Is Coming to Deer Valley East Village — And This Changes Everything
The next chapter of Deer Valley’s expansion just went from ambitious to undeniable.
Extell Development Company and Hilton have officially announced the signing of Waldorf Astoria Deer Valley Resort and Residences, a ski-in, ski-out luxury resort and branded residential offering set within the newly established Deer Valley East Village.
Expected to debut in 2028, this project anchors the first major public alpine ski resort developed in North America in more than 40 years—an important distinction that signals just how significant East Village is becoming within the global ski landscape.
A True Ski-In, Ski-Out Experience—Done Right
Located directly beside Deer Valley’s newly established longest ski run, Green Monster, Waldorf Astoria Deer Valley is designed to deliver effortless slope access paired with the legendary service associated with the Waldorf Astoria brand.
The project will include:
- 132 hotel rooms
- 105 branded residences, ranging from one to six bedrooms
- Residence sizes from approximately 1,099 to 5,155 square feet
- Two architecturally distinct towers with unobstructed views of Bald Mountain, Hail Peak, Park Peak, and beyond
Of the residential offerings, 56 hotel residences will sit above the hotel itself, while 49 private residences will occupy a standalone Waldorf Astoria Residences Deer Valley tower—giving buyers flexibility between full-service convenience and enhanced privacy.
Global Architecture Meets Mountain Precision
This is a globally designed project built with long-term relevance in mind.
- Architecture: Led by Kohn Pedersen Fox
- Interior Design: Curated by AvroKO
The result is expected to feel modern, refined, and grounded in the surrounding landscape—elevated without being overworked.
Amenities Designed for Year-Round Mountain Living
Waldorf Astoria Deer Valley is being built for full-season use, not just ski weekends. Planned amenities include:
- A 15,000-square-foot spa with thermal features and a snow room
- Ski valet and concierge services
- Fitness centers and a golf simulator
- Kid’s room and family-oriented spaces
- Indoor lap pool and a resident pool deck overlooking Green Monster
- An outdoor pool and hot tub cantilevered over the ski run below
- Multiple dining venues, bars, and lounges—including Waldorf Astoria’s signature Peacock Alley
- 11,300 square feet of meeting and event space, including a 5,200-square-foot ballroom
- Resident lounges, demonstration kitchen, and curated social spaces
Construction officially commenced in May 2025, keeping the project firmly on track toward its anticipated opening.
East Village: The New Gateway to Deer Valley
Waldorf Astoria marks the second Hilton-branded property announced for East Village, joining the Canopy by Hilton Deer Valley, which is scheduled to open this summer just steps from the Jordanelle Express Gondola.
East Village itself is quickly becoming the front door to Deer Valley Resort:
- Located just 40 minutes from Salt Lake City International Airport
- Featuring hotels, private residences, estate lots, and luxury condominiums
- Planned for up to 250,000 square feet of retail and commercial space
- Designed with a ski beach, walkable village core, and four-season amenities
This ski season marked a major milestone as Deer Valley doubled its skiable terrain:
- 80 new runs and seven new lifts debuted this season
- Three lifts and 20 runs opened the prior season
- At full buildout: 5,726 acres, 37 chairlifts, and 238 runs
East Village now serves as the primary portal connecting guests and owners directly into this expanded terrain.
